The detailed description of inquiry deduplication.

The credit bureau and myFICO credit reports do NOT disclose the type of inquiry.  Obviously, consumers can not dispute what they don't know.

My claims against Equifax for the incorrect coding of my mortgage inquiry was dismissed, currently on appeal.

I also sued Experian for failing to provide the inquiry type, unsuccessfully and also on appeal.

Apparently the only way to see whether an inquiry is correctly identified by Fair Isaac's FICO scoring software is to order one of the otherwise very incomplete PrivacyGuard.com (ConsumerInfo.com, Experian) tri-merged reports.

Here is the screenshot of a client's MORTGAGE inquiries with Countrywide.
  • Several inquiries are not identified as mortgage inquiries
  • Countrywide ran the credit twice

We don't know why Countrywide ran the credit TWICE after ONE application and why it shows up as Countrywide and Landsafe.  Landsafe is a mortgage credit report reseller.

Also, please note that on 8/12/06, "COAF" obtained the TU report.  That's Capital One Auto Finance.

Why is the auto loan inquiry identified as "finance, personal?"
